Magpie's Song Receives New Musical Theatre Grant
Lincoln Community Playhouse is pleased to announce we have received a $1,500 grant from The National Foundation for Musical Theatre for Magpie's Song.
The National Foundation for Musical Theatre is a community of musical theatre enthusiasts supporting the development, production, and appreciation of musical theatre.  They are producers, institutions, and members of the theatre-going community.Through their programs, they encourage activities that unite and heal the nation through musical theatre, and educate the next generation to the extraordinary impact this artform can have on our culture.

Magpie's Song was written by Lincoln native, Zeph Siebler, and is an operatic pop musical centered around three myths. In "A Festival in Conflagration," a painter conjures up memories of a deadly fire in her newest painting, calling into question who really lit the match and what it means to be a monster. In "River of Stars," a mortal spends a day with the daughter of the Celestial Emperor, and they have to decide what's worth sacrificing to live out a star-crossed love. In "Ten Suns," an archer comes out of retirement to stop a catastrophic drought, only to find himself caught at the center of a struggle for the chance of eternal life. Magpie's Song explores the primal need humans have to explain the world through storytelling.

Lincoln Community Playhouse will be presenting the community theatre premiere of Magpie's Song. Morrie Enders will direct with Bryson Cole as music director.

Auditions are December 9 and 10 with callbacks December 11. Rehearsals begin December 15. Performances are February 13-15, and 20-22, 2026 in the Studio Theatre.
