Special Presentation: Dissonance of Soul
Sunday, November 23rd at 1:00-1:30p

Art Zygielbaum's parents were Holocaust survivors.  Along with his wife Chris and their son David, Art traveled to Poland to connect to his Polish roots.  Accompanied by Beth Dotan from the UNL Harris Center for Judaic Studies, they visited cities, towns, and villages where Art's parents and grandparents lived.  They also visited four concentration camps and several museums dedicated to Polish Jewish history.  Because Art's grandfather, Szmul Mordecai (Arthur) Zygielbojm is considered a hero in Poland, they were invited to the Presidential Palace to meet with the Polish Secretary of State.  They were also accorded a personal tour of Chelm, Poland, by the mayor of the city.  Art will discuss the trip, its profound impact on him, and the implications of what he learned.

Lincoln Community Playhouse presents The Diary of Anne Frank on November 7-9, 13-16, and 20-23 in the Studio Theatre. Tickets are $27 for adults and $16 for students and may be reserved at lincolnplayhouse.com or by calling the box office at 402-489-7529, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. The production is recommended for ages 14 and up. Seating is limited to 98 people per show.

The play, by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, and adapted by Wendy Kesselman, tells the true story of Anne Frank, an intensely gifted young girl, who confronts her rapidly changing life and the increasing horror of her time with astonishing honesty, wit, and determination. An impassioned drama about the lives of eight Jewish people hiding from the Nazis in a concealed storage attic, The Diary of Anne Frank captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence—their fear, their hope, their laughter, their grief.

The cast includes Gracie Kathman, Amy Yungwirth, Bruce Hahn, Casandra Dufresne, Colton Knott, Eric Ojeda, Mark Geist, Noah Mason, Riley Shaw, Wendi Ground. Kenyon Koenig, Tim Peglow, and Chuck LeCorgne. Morrie Enders directs with Jeff Maldavs as scenic and tech director, Maralee Maldavs as costume designer, Reece McAdams as lighting designer, Julie Enersen as props director, and Bailey Leuty as stage manager.

Season sponsors are KFOR and 10/11 Show You Care.
