Sound Board Operator
- assume all responsibilities common to sound board operator;
- consult and meet with Sound Designer, Director, Musical Director, and Technical Director to execute sound design;
- attend production meetings when necessary;
- adhere to budget provided by the Playhouse;
- attend Paper Tech with Director, Sound Designer, Stage Manager, and Lighting Designer;
- test sound cues, set base levels, and attend to proper balancing of all aspects of sound system;
- have mics prepared with batteries/power and apply to actors (actors are not to attend to batteries/power responsibility unless special circumstances);
- keep mics cleaned (including removal of mic tape/residues), sanitized, organized, and properly stored (including removal of batteries) after each use;
- the sound board default file is NOT TO BE OVERWRITTEN FOR ANY REASON. If this occurs, a financial penalty of $200 will be assessed;
- keep sound booth area organized and cleaned;
- adhere to all rules and safety guidelines of the theatre, as well as scene shop etiquette rules;
- help maintain a professional, positive, safe [both physical and mental] environment for rehearsals and performances;
- be mindful of actor and stage crew volunteers’ time;
- adhere to the the Playhouse’s boundaries regarding finances, resources, personnel, and Playhouse staff time;
- understand and respect that the Playhouse staff is always working on more than one show at a time and will prioritize show needs appropriately;
The Executive Director retains final artistic authority and may make adjustments to serve the best interests of the Playhouse, while honoring the contractor’s role and creative contributions.
Stipend is $45 per service.
