Scenic Designer
- assume all responsibilities common to scenic design;
- provide scenic design and artistic vision in collaboration with the Director and Technical Director, on set, set dressing, props, and paint for the production;
- provide scenic design package by production deadlines;
- attend production meetings;
- meet and communicate regularly with the Director and Technical Director;
- consult with Technical Director on implementing technical aspects of executing the design;
- design within parameters that adhere to budget provided by the Playhouse;
- advise Charge Artist, in collaboration with Technical Director, on painting;
- adhere to all rules and safety guidelines of the theatre, as well as scene shop etiquette rules;
- help maintain a professional, positive, safe [both physical and mental] environment for rehearsals and performances;
- be mindful of actor and stage crew volunteers’ time;
- adhere to the the Playhouse’s boundaries regarding finances, resources, personnel, and Playhouse staff time;
- understand and respect that the Playhouse staff is always working on more than one show at a time and will prioritize show needs appropriately;
The Executive Director retains final artistic authority and may make adjustments to serve the best interests of the Playhouse, while honoring the contractor’s role and creative contributions.
Stipend starts at $1,500.
