Properties Coordinator
- assume all responsibilities common to properties coordination;
- consult and meet regularly with Technical Director, Director, Scenic Designer;
- attend production meetings;
- adhere to budget provided by the Playhouse;
- create, maintain, and organize the production prop list;
- keep prop construction and storage areas organized and cleaned;
- source and acquire hand props and consumable props as needed;
- coordinate furniture and set dressing with Technical Director and staff;
- meet established production deadlines for pulling rehearsal props
- consult with stage manager and technical director on best placement of prop tables backstage;
- have final props prepared on Friday before Tech, including prop tables organized and labeled;
- instruct actors and stage crew on proper use, care, and maintenance of props (with the Stage Manager and Tech Director);
- adhere to prop safety protocols, including the use of weaponry, smoking devices, and any other prop deemed in need of safety protocols;
- track rehearsal and performance reports to fix or replenish props before preshow schedule for next performance;
- attend strike and coordinate return of props;
- adhere to all rules and safety guidelines of the theatre, as well as scene shop etiquette rules;
- help maintain a professional, positive, safe [both physical and mental] environment for rehearsals and performances;
- be mindful of actor and stage crew volunteers’ time;
- adhere to the the Playhouse’s boundaries regarding finances, resources, personnel, and Playhouse staff time;
- understand and respect that the Playhouse staff is always working on more than one show at a time and will prioritize show needs appropriately;
The Executive Director retains final artistic authority and may make adjustments to serve the best interests of the Playhouse, while honoring the contractor’s role and creative contributions.
Stipend starts at $800.
