Music Director

Contractor agrees to:

  1. assume all responsibilities common to music direction;
  2. work with Music Conductor to implement music between actors, technicians, orchestra;
  3. assist Director to prepare, attend and conduct auditions as scheduled; cast, schedule and rehearse the play; 
  4. train and rehearse actors musically during rehearsal process;
  5. coordinate rehearsal tracks for the actors;
  6. If applicable, assist with coordinating keyboard programming:
    1. obtaining keyboard programming by purchase (with budgetary permission from the ED of course) 
    2. programming the software themselves
    3. finding someone to program the software
    4. conceiving a plan to protect the integrity of the score without the keyboard programming
  7. attend ALL rehearsals through the final dress; 
  8. attend production meetings as requested or needed;
  9. follow Guest Director Guidelines (attachment A); 
  10. protect the quality of the show during the performance run in accordance with agreements made with the Playhouse’s Executive Director; 
  11. help maintain a professional, positive, safe [both physical and mental] environment for rehearsals and performances;
  12. be mindful of actor and stage crew volunteers’ time;
  13. adhere to the the Playhouse’s boundaries regarding finances, resources, personnel, and Playhouse staff time;
  14. understand and respect that the Playhouse staff is always working on more than one show at a time and will prioritize show needs appropriately;

The Executive Director retains final artistic authority and may make adjustments to serve the best interests of the Playhouse, while honoring the contractor’s role and creative contributions.

Stipend starts at $1,000.
