Music Conductor
Contractor agrees to:
- assume all responsibilities common to music conductor;
- work with Music Director to implement music between actors, technicians, orchestra;
- If applicable, coordinate keyboard programming:
- obtaining keyboard programming by purchase (with budgetary permission from the ED of course)
- programming the software themselves
- finding someone to program the software
- conceiving a plan to protect the integrity of the score without the keyboard programming
- attend all orchestra rehearsals, tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals through the final performance;
- attend production meetings as requested or needed;
- recruit musicians, conduct orchestra rehearsals;
- conduct performances
- follow Guest Director Guidelines (attachment A);
- protect the quality of the show during the performance run in accordance with agreements made with the Playhouse’s Executive Director;
- help maintain a professional, positive, safe [both physical and mental] environment for rehearsals and performances;
- be mindful of actor and stage crew volunteers’ time;
- adhere to the the Playhouse’s boundaries regarding finances, resources, personnel, and Playhouse staff time;
- understand and respect that the Playhouse staff is always working on more than one show at a time and will prioritize show needs appropriately;
The Executive Director retains final artistic authority and may make adjustments to serve the best interests of the Playhouse, while honoring the contractor’s role and creative contributions.
Stipend is $45 per service.
