Lighting Programmer/Electrician
- assume all responsibilities common to lighting programming and electrician as assigned;
- implement lighting design by Lighting Designer;
- program lighting cues into board;
- consult with the production staff to schedule a time for hanging and focusing the light instruments and setting for the production;
- assist with the installation, focusing, gelling, and cueing of lighting instruments and lighting specials;
- program/cue overnight between 10:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. [this is required and non-negotiable];
- attend production meetings;
- consult with Lighting Designer and Technical Director on time for hang and focus;
- train spotlight operators and light board operator during tech week;
- return lighting storage area to original condition;
- adhere to all rules and safety guidelines of the theatre, as well as scene shop etiquette rules;
- help maintain a professional, positive, safe [both physical and mental] environment for rehearsals and performances;
- be mindful of actor and stage crew volunteers’ time;
- adhere to the the Playhouse’s boundaries regarding finances, resources, personnel, and Playhouse staff time;
- understand and respect that the Playhouse staff is always working on more than one show at a time and will prioritize show needs appropriately;
The Executive Director retains final artistic authority and may make adjustments to serve the best interests of the Playhouse, while honoring the contractor’s role and creative contributions.
Stipend starts at $1,000.
