Lighting Designer
- assume all responsibilities common to lighting design;
- provide lighting design and artistic vision on the lighting aspects of the production;
- meet deadline for light plot submission;
- program/cue overnight between 10:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. [this is required and non-negotiable];
- attend production meetings;
- meet and communicate regularly with the Director and Technical Director;
- consult with Technical Director on time for hang and focus;
- supervise installation of light plot, focus, gel, cueing of lighting instruments, and projection controlled special effect equipment;
- coordinate with Stage Manager on paper tech - to include Director and Sound Designer;
- design within parameters that adhere to budget provided by the Playhouse;
- train spotlight operators and light board operator during tech week;
- adhere to all rules and safety guidelines of the theatre, as well as scene shop etiquette rules;
- help maintain a professional, positive, safe [both physical and mental] environment for rehearsals and performances;
- be mindful of actor and stage crew volunteers’ time;
- adhere to the the Playhouse’s boundaries regarding finances, resources, personnel, and Playhouse staff time;
- understand and respect that the Playhouse staff is always working on more than one show at a time and will prioritize show needs appropriately;
The Executive Director retains final artistic authority and may make adjustments to serve the best interests of the Playhouse, while honoring the contractor’s role and creative contributions.
Stipend starts at $1,200.
