LCP SEASON 67: REEL TO REAL

PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES SEASON 67

Lincoln Community Playhouse announces Season 67 – Reel to Real. The season will feature movies that were turned into plays and plays that were turned into movies. A highlight of the season will be the Nebraska community theatre premiere of Les Miserables, the world’s most popular musical.

The Season 67 lineup includes:

9 to 5: The Musical

Based on the 1980 film, this musical comedy features music and lyrics by Dolly Parton (her hit title song from the movie is the show’s opening number). Three secretaries give their chauvinistic boss the boot and give their company a dream makeover. Performance dates are July 27-29 and August 2-5, 2012. Sponsored by Farmers Mutual of Nebraska .

Legally Blonde The Musical

When she is dumped by her boyfriend for someone “serious,” Elle Woods enrolls in Harvard Law. While upending the campus, she proves that staying true to yourself never goes out of style. Performance dates are September 21-23 and 27-30, 2012. Sponsored by Nebraska Lottery.

How I Became a Pirate

Young Jeremy Jacob is digging in the sand when a pirate band recruits him to dig for treasure. The wacky crew teaches him the finer points of being a pirate from pirate talk to etiquette (or lack thereof). Performance dates are November 2-4 and 8-11, 2012. Sponsored by Lincoln Journal Star.

A Little House Christmas

The Ingalls family celebrates Christmas during a snow storm and Mary and Laura are worried Santa won’t be able to find them in the blizzard. This show is a loving tribute to Christmas past and folk traditions. Performance dates are December 7-9 and 13-16, 2012. Sponsored by Sandhills Publishing and Firespring.

Doubt
Winner of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award, Doubt explores the complexity of human relationships and how we arrive at certainty and what we empower as truth. Performance dates are January 18-20 and 24-27, 2013.

Pinkalicious The Musical
Pinkalicious can't stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor's office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe! Performance dates are February 8-10 and 14-17, 2013. Sponsored by Lincoln Benefit Life.

Harvey
When Elwood P. Down starts to introduce his imaginary friend, Harvey, a six-and-a-half-foot rabbit around town, his family wants to have him committed. Full of delightful daffiness and delicate charm, Harvey is a very bunny play! Performance dates are March 1-3 and 7-10, 2013.

Les Miserables
Epic, grand and uplifting, Les Miserables packs an emotional wallop that has thrilled audiences all over the world.
Jean Valjean is released from 19 years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a life-long struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector, Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. Amid a student uprising, Valjean’s quest for salvation becomes a powerful affirmation of the human spirit. Performance dates are May 3-5, 9-12 and 16-19, 2013. Sponsored by Cornerstone Printing.

Season tickets are sold as punch cards. An 8 punch card is $110.00, a 5 punch card is $70.00 with a student 8 punch card for $55.00 and a student 3 punch card for $21.00. Only one punch per card can be used for Les Miserables. Punch cards can be ordered by calling the Playhouse box office at 402-489-7529.
