Jean Shepherd's classic story of 9-year old Ralphie Parker is brought to the stage with the same hilarity as the movie. Our hero Ralphie only wants a BB gun for Christmas (specifically, "an official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle, with a compass") and will go to any lengths to get it despite the numerous adult warnings, especially those of his mother, of "you'll shoot your eye out." Over the course of the play, Ralphie hides advertisements in the newspaper and the mail, writes an essay on the subject, and makes a last chance ditch effort by enlisting the department store Santa Claus. Will Ralphie finally get his prize despite all of these challenges? (Appropriate for ages 9 and up)
