Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story

October 1-October 24, 2004
Directed By: Jeremy Kendall Play Type(s): Musical Event Type: Mainstage
Description
“I saw Buddy Holly at the Playhouse,” claimed Margaret Susan Kravitz, a star-struck LCP box office volunteer. “He just walked up to the ticket window with his guitar. I said, ‘Can I help you, Sir?’ and he replied, ‘Maybe, Baby.’ I knew in a Heartbeat he was the real deal.”
Ms. Kravitz notes that she is Buddy Holly’s number one fan – and was heartbroken for weeks after the rock legend perished at age 22 in a tragic plane crash. “Oh, Boy,” Kravitz gushed. “It’s So Easy to get excited when someone like Buddy Holly comes back from the dead and starts talking Words of Love.”
According to Kravitz, Holly said he would return to the Playhouse on October 1 – That’ll Be The Day that BUDDY: THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY (book by Alan Janes; music by Buddy Holly) opens on the LCP Mainstage. The rock star will Rave On with fellow rock & rollers Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper, as well as the incomparable Crickets, through October 24.
“It Doesn’t Matter Anymore!” exclaimed Kravitz, who announced that from now on she will answer only to the nickname, Peggy Sue. “I’m buying four punch cards and making my reservations in advance so I can be in the audience for every show. It’ll be Raining in My Heart until I can see Buddy again.”
