Theatre Arts for Youth (TAFY) is dedicated to supporting a process-oriented approach to the practice, refinement, and appreciation of theatrical arts. We seek to nurture the whole child by conducting activities that develop each student’s freedom of creative expression.

Imagination, collaboration, problem solving, and team building are the essence of our curriculum. We explore creative processes that include and transcend performance, and may be applied throughout life. Our classes are structured to accentuate each student’s inventive and expressive spirit, while ensuring the collaborative and social nature of theatre arts.

TAFY classes are process-oriented and do not culminate in a production. However, it is a happy experience for the students to share some of what they have been learning with family and friends on the last day. Consider that visit with us to be a demonstration of the process of theatre education.

What is wonderful about our Family Theatre Series is that, for each play that we present, many of our patrons comment that they have been reading the book or books closely related to the production. How wonderful it is to take the page to the stage!

That is why many of our beginning acting classes are based on literature. This approach not only engages the imagination, it inspires children to read. An added bonus is that they, in turn, engage parents and siblings to participate and share what they learn in weekly classes.

So go out and be inspired! Go to the library! Visit a bookstore! Read aloud and act up with your budding thespians! All the world’s a stage!
